Pastel Paper Sheets

Understanding Pastel Drawing Paper

Colored paper sheets explicitly made for use with pastels are known as pastel paper sheets. Usually, in the shape of a stick or pencil, pastels are a type of art media that combines colored pigment with a binder. Unlike other sketching or painting materials, pastels have a delicate, powdery look when applied on paper.

The greater weight and textured surface of pastel paper sheets enable the pastels to stick to the paper and provide the desired appearance. The surface can have a toothy or velvety texture and comes in various hues, from stark white to soft pastels.
